During repetitive use of our muscles, prolonged sitting, or old injuries among other things, muscles will contract and knot up. Slow deep strokes are used to elongate or shorten (depending on the case) to relax the muscle. Muscle memory is often lost and with regular maintenance it can be regained.

What to expect is the use of forearms, knuckles, and elbows performing deep slow controlled strokes. The client should focus on their breathing and keep communication with the Licensed Massage Therapist if any discomfort occurs. Pain tolerance differs from person to person and should never get above a 6 on a 1-10 pain scale.
